Happy 1st Birthday!!!

My sweet little boy isn't one quite yet, but we got to celebrate the huge milestone on Saturday. It was soo sooo much fun, and bear with me, there are quite a few pictures :)

I have been planning this party for quite some time and now that it's over, I kind of feel a slight "post-party depression". Um, ok, maybe that's a lie. Maybe I'm pretty relieved that it's over and I know that Bryson had fun and everything went great!!

I debated on themes for a while. I LOVE kids books and always try to instill a passion for books in my kids at school, as well as Bryson, so I really wanted to do "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", "Elmer the Patchwork Elephant" or a typical sports theme (really, that was just thrown in there for Michael). After I chose the theme and designed invitations (thanks Jen!!) , decorations, thank you notes, etc, I realized that Target has a Very Hungry Caterpillar party line already made!!! Man, that could have saved me HOURS!!!!  Oh well, I'm super happy with how it turned out!! :)

We had an "Elmer The Patchwork Elephant" themed party and it was VERY fun and colorful!! I'm pretty sure we'll have leftover candy til next Halloween! HA!

(The giant lollipops were his party favors!! We bought out a few stores to have enough for everyone. haha!)

Lots of family and close friends joined us to celebrate Bryson!

Then, it was time for presents. Bryson helped open a couple of them, but got distracted quite easily with other things. It seriously looked like Toy R Us exploded in our living room. Bryson LOVES all of his fun new things!!

Next was the moment we've all been waiting for...the smash cake!!! I was SO excited because I know that Bryson likes cake...a lot. He ate quite a bit at Jen's wedding. But, I was also worried because he was SOOO sleepy and on the verge of losing it by this point.
I think you'll be able to get a good idea of how the smash cake went over by this one little picture:

:(

I went straight back to his room, gave him a bottle and he was out like a light. Once he woke up, he was back to his silly, happy self :)

We had so so much fun with his birthday party. Neither Michael or I can actually wrap our heads around the fact that our baby is almost a whole year old. This has absolutely been the best year of our lives. God has blessed us beyond our wildest dreams with Bryson and we can't wait to see what He has in store for our family in the next year! :)

Happy ONE year (birthday party) sweet boy!!!!
