Belize was absolutely amazing! I don't even know if I can capture our vacation with words. But I'll try...with a picture overloaded, story filled post! ;) There a lot of things that I want to remember about this vacation!
We dropped off Bryson at Grandma and Papa's and the next morning met my mom and headed to the airport for the 2.5 hr flight to Belize.
While we were waiting, we saw John Cena (a wrestler). I had no idea who he was, but after Michael told me, I had to take a picture of him for a few of my boys at school who LOVE wrestling. (They screamed like girls when I showed them the picture!!)
Dad and Steph (who had just spent the previous week in Honduras on a medical mission trip) met us at the itty bitty airport in Belize to take a "puddle jumper" 12 seater to Ambergris Caye, where we were staying for the week.
I was told to co-pilot the plane. Well, more like just sit up there and not touch a thing! What a view!!
We watched tons of golfcarts and tractors go by while we waited for our luggage
Our resort was so nice. Since we went in the off season, we basically had the entire resort to ourselves. We saw 2 or 3 other families, but that was it!
We walked a mile up the beach to "The Store" and bought a 5 gallon jug of water and a few groceries. The strong boys took turns carrying it back to the hotel :) We actually went through 2 5-gallon jugs in the 4.5 days we were there. Water loving family for sure!
We took out the hobiecat and kayaks- so fun!
Dad taught Michael how to sail the HobieCat; he loved it :)
We saw a sting ray when we were in the kayaks
The first day, we went out on a 2 tank dive right outside of our hotel to the reef. The divemaster was woried because the water was ROUGH. I thought the boat was going to roll over several times. It was just the 4 of us and the divemaster on these 2 dives, another perk to the off season.
We spent a lot of time relaxing on the beach, drinking yummy drinks, eating way too much delicious food, and spending time together.
Ambergris Caye (the island we stayed on) doesn'thave roads, so if you want to go anywhere, you go by water taxi. It was really fun and different. Although, when we went to dinner a few miles up the island, we had to wait on the dock for a few minutes and it was sooo windy. We tried to save our curls, but there was absolutely no point to that! :) Ha!
We had SOO much fun!! I still have a few more pictures to add, and the best of all, a whole post devoted all te diving the Blue Hole! :) There was a lady that took pictures of us while diving and said she would email them to me, so I can't wait to get those!! Coming shortly!
Seriously, I'm so jealous! What an amazing trip! Brandon and I try and go on one {kid free} vacation a year, but with our new addition coming this May it might not be in the cards. I'll just live vicariously through yours instead.
