Bubbles!

I bought a few new bubble wands for Bryson yesterday. He loves popping the bubbles and trying to wave the wand to make bubbles and it has been so beautiful outside lately, so it's been a lot of fun!

Michael, Bryson and I went in the backyard to play with the bubbles today and oddly enough, Bryson was pretty ho-hum about the bubles, but Orion went crazy! He was runing and jumping all over the place biting the bubbles. If the bubbles went too high or popped before he could get them, he started whining. It was hilarious! Michael and I blew bubbles for the dog for over 30 minutes while Bryson ran around the backyard playing/eating leaves. :)

I think we might just have to have another bubble day tomorrow :)

We're Not Terrible Parents. I promise.

Ok, maybe I should have kept the last part of Monday to ourselves.
I promise going to the casino is not a normal thing for us (first time ever, actually) and Bryson just happened to be there.
We thought it was funny, and actually went in laughing about it. We're really not terrible parents, I promise!
If it makes you feel any better at all, we were there for less than an hour, he was held the entire time and didn't touch anything, no one touched him. If it doesn't make you feel better, then, sorry Charlie. :)

Ok, now for some long overdue pictures!

He's found Orion's food and water bowl and likes to go play in it. He hasn't put any in his mouth. We're not terrible parents, I promise!

Happy Half Birthday To You!

Our little baby boy is 6 months old!

He is growing up so quickly before my eyes. I honestly can't even believe he's half a year old already.
I'm just trying to soak up every second of this fun stage that I can. I love it!!

Bryson has had a ton of "firsts" this month!

He started eating cereal and he LOVES it! He can't get enough of it!

He tried sweet potatoes, sweet peas and carrots, and isn't really a huge fan of them yet...

He went swimming for the first time and LOVES the water

Started "walking" and actually moves around the house quite well

Sat up in a shopping cart like a big boy

"Used" a sippy cup (really just played with it)

Discovered Orion and since then, they have become BFFs...which makes Orion very happy!!

Bryson doesn't go to the doctor for a couple more weeks, so I don't know stats yet, but I do know he is a growing boy! He's wearing 6-9 month clothes and size 2 diapers, but I think we're going to bump it up to the next size because he's leaking out the top of them in the middle of the night. Changing this kid's diaper is close to impossible. He rolls to his belly the second he's on his back. I now have an appreciation for calf wrestlers because that's what I feel like I'm doing several times a day! I've also decided that Pampers need to make diapers you can put on when the baby is on his belly, because that's what I end up doing half the time! That would be brilliant :)

He used to fight sleep like a ninja, (and still does occasionally), screaming and crying for a good 10 minutes before falling asleep. Now, thankfully, he whines a bit and then "talks" himself to sleep. I started letting him sleep with a little blanket from Mama Mel and Papa John and a little toy and that has helped SO much! I make sure the blanket isn't in his face as soon as he falls asleep, but he always has it in his hand or is laying on top of it-precious!! He usually sleeps from 8-8 and takes a 1.5-2 hr nap in the morning and then a 45 minute nap in the afternoon. Every once in a while he'll take a 3rd nap, but I think he's dropping that 3rd nap. I LOVE going to get him after he wakes up, he is so happy and smiley!

Bryson is so much fun to go places with. I call him "my perfect little show baby" when we're out in public. He just smiles and coos and looks around. He makes lots of friends :) He could be sitting in a poopy diaper (which he HATES) or starving, but if we're out in public, he'll be wonderful.  Once we get to the car though, that's a different story! But, he will definitely let me know when he's sleepy, so I make sure we're at home for all of his naps/bed time.

He wouldn't eat the sweet potatoes or peas one day so I thought I'd see if he'd play with them and then stick his hands in his mouth and eat them, but he just played with it. Orion liked the left overs though :)

He is a great eater though. He eats cereal 3 times a day and I usually have to make a 2nd or 3rd bowl because his mouth is still wide open like a baby bird looking for more food, and he nurses 4-5 times a day. I feel like I have to be in a dark quiet room while he's nursing because he gets so distracted by every noise he hears. Especialy when Michael's in the room. All hope is lost when he hears Michael's voice :) It's really cute though! He also reaches up and plays with my face the whole time...I love it! :) I'm cherishing every second.

Since he was in my belly, I've always said he was going to be a mover. He's rolling, scooting, and army crawling all over the place. His feet are always moving where ever he is. He's so close to crawling; he just needs to figure out how to get up on his hands and knees simultaneously :)

I have loved watching him grow and learn new things and can't wait to see what he'll do next!

Happy 6 months, sweet boy!!

Happenings...

Alright, I have some catching up to do. I thought I would have much more down time to blog once I was able to stay at home with B, but I was quite wrong. :) I keep telling myself, "I'll do it tomorrow during his nap." Well, nap time comes around and I have a hundred other things to do. I'll try to be better about that...   :)

We've been busy swimming,

crawling,

playing dress up (my dad got this outfit for him and it finally fits, so we had to have a litle photo shoot)

jumping

and "walking."

My dad and sister left for a medical mission trip to Honduras on Saturday, so they had to get a little "Bryson time" in before they were gone all week. This is the 3rd year for my dad and 1st for my sister. It's always so amazing to hear about the things they get to do while they are there. They treat so many needy families and and do so many wonderful things in the city. I can't wait to hear how God has used them this week!!

We gave Bryson sweet potatoes for the first time on Friday. I told my self I was going to wait until he turned 6 months (because that's what our doctor recommended and I'm a rule follower) but he's been getting up in the middle of the night and wants to eat, so I decided that he probably needed something more in his belly. He LOVED it at first, and kept trying to shove the spoon in his mouth, but then I guess he decided he wasn't a huge fan.

He'd rather eat his toes...like usual :)

I noticed a small red rash on his arms and legs Saturday afternoon and got a little nervous about it. (You can kinda see a little bit of it in the picture above.) By Sunday morning, it was ALL over his little body and I freaked out. (I thought I made the potatoes wrong or he had an allergic reaction to them. I felt awful.) We called the on-call doctor and she wasn't too concerned about it. She said it definitely wasn't the food (phew!) but probably a virus. A virus?? He had absolutely no signs to speak of, and had been his happy, giggly, smiley self, so I thought that was odd. We went to see our doctor Monday morning and sure enough, it was a viral infection and the only symptom was a rash. We gave him Benedryl yesterday and it seems to have gone away!! Hooray!! What a champ! I'm glad to have that behind us :)

We also got an early anniversary present this weekend. We decided to get a DSLR camera so we could take better pictures of our little family. Oh my gosh- it's A-mazing!! I wish I had it from the second he was born! I have absolutely NO idea what I'm doing with it, but I love the pictures so far!! I've tried reading the instruction book (because that's the kind of person I am-ha!) but it's still so confusing to me.Thankfully, it came with photo classes at Wolf Camera and I will be going to those for sure!

Fair warning: this blog will most definitely be bombarded with even more pictures of our little man...and our puppy :) Here are a few I've taken so far:
