Before Bed Time

I was planning on putting Bryson down for bed early tonight, just like every weeknight. He hardly sleeps at all at school, so he's ready for bed around 6 or 6:30 most nights ...but not tonight! He was crawling around laughing and was in the best mood. SO much fun!!

I wasn't able to take many pictures during the last month, because, who thinks of taking pictures  when you have a sad, sick baby? I'm trying to make up for the lack of pictures, I guess. :)

Love that smile!! :)

FINALLY got a picture of him standing by himself (even if I accidently covered the flash)!

I love this sweet time with my baby boy :)

9 Months

I can't believe my little man has officially been outside my tummy as long as he was inside my tummy. Bryson is 9 months old. (Well, 9 months and 5 days. I'm behind. What's new?)  Only 3 months away from being an entire year old. Oh my goodness!!

Normally, I start out his monthly posts by saying how time has just flown by and yada yada. Well, I can honestly say that this has been the slowest month ever. Most of it has to do with him being sick for so long. But, alas, he is not sick anymore (well, not as bad as before-more on this later) and a new month is here. :)

This has been a pretty calm month in developmental terms. He spent several weeks just in our arms or sitting in our lap (which was such a sweet change...we got to do a lot of cuddling!) and didn't get a chance to be on the floor much. Even still, in the last couple weeks, he has shown so much interest in standing on his own. He'll pull up on something and then let go and stand for a good 5-10 seconds and then slowly lower himself down to sitting. It seems like he stands up, smiles and seems so proud of himself, looks around and realizes he has no idea what he should be doing and then sits down. :)
He's still crawling all over the place. He's known as "Spider Monkey" to all the teachers at daycare because he's so active!  Ha!

We went for his 9 month well visit and we were happy to find out he had gained a little weight. He stopped gaining weight and even lost a little bit when he was sick, so we were a little worried.  We're still working on packing on the pounds, though. :) We opted for the flu shot, so even though he wasn't due for any shots...he still got one. Poor baby. He was a champ though! He let out one little wail and then was fine. What a brave boy I have :) His stats:
Length-29 3/4"  (95-97%)
Weight- 18.5 lbs   (25%)
Head- 18"  (75%)

I wish I had some sort of translator for all of Bryson's babbling! I love hearing him "talking" all the time. SO cute! He's says "dada" ALL the time and has started saying "dah" for dog when he sees Orion and "babababa" and we'll just assume it's for his bottle. Ha! I'm still desperately working on "Mama". You might hear a conversation similar to this in our house...
Me: "Bryson, can you say Mama?
B: "Dadada"
Me: "No baby, I'm Mama!"
B: "Daaaaaaaaaaaadddaaaaaaaadadadada"
Me: "Mmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaa!"
B: "Dadaabbabagabbadadada."
Me: "Ah fine. Yes, good boy, Bryson! Dada. Dada...."

I know he loves me though, because he has a massive case of seperation anxiety. Half the time he's pretty good about going to other people or being out of sight from mommy, but the other half of the time...Oh man. You need a set of ear plugs. He cries and cries until I pick him up and then he's perfectly happy. :) He's a mama's boy for sure!!
Now that Bryson is healthy-ish again, he's eating a ton. He eats 4 meals of solids (8oz of fruit/veggie/oatmeal) and 4 6-8oz bottles. Speaking of bottles, Bryson has had a complete change of heart about bottles. We struggled his entire life to get him to take a bottle. Now, in the last month, he actually cries for bottles!! What!? He saw an empty bottle sitting on the dresser and went bananas. Michael made a bottle real quick and B guzzled it all down. All by himself, I might add :) I even pulled his bouncer out of the closet again for him to lay in and it's a perfect little seat for him. He actually crawls straight into and sits until he gets his bottle. With the sudden interest in bottles, he has had more of a disinterest in nursing at night. It makes me a little sad, but rocking him to sleep with a bottle is still a sweet cuddle time for us. I was having a hard time figuring out how I was even going to begin to start weaning him, but he seems to have done it on his own. I was really only nursing as nighttime, so it wasn't a big adjustment for him. I've gotten teary eyed about it, but I know it's going to be just fine. So, as of his 9 month birthday, Bryson gets only Enfamil.

Bryson has six teeth, 2 on bottom and 4 on top. He apparently gets his teeth in pairs. Right now, he's working on his bottom molars. Ouch. He is not an easy teether and this is even worse. I found a "back teeth teether" which has helped sooo much. We also slather on the Oragel constantly. :) Hopefully they break through quickly!

Bryson went to see a Pediatric GI two weeks ago about his tummy problems. After a long visit with the doctor, he assured me that dairy was not the source of Bryson's problems. Apparently his symptoms disappearing and me going dairy free was a complete coincidence. Yay for being able to eat cheese again. Boo for not knowing what's wrong with my baby. He put Bryson on an antihistamine because of his snotty nose and congestion. He mentioned that he could be throwing up because the food is getting caught in the mucus in the back of his throat and making him gag. I don't know if we have another coincidence on our hands, but his diarrhea and vomitting completely went away and he started sleeping through the night again! Thank you, Lord!! Bryson and I are both SO glad to be getting more sleep. We're praying everything stays this good and that it isn't just a fluke again. We're going back to the GI doctor in the next couple weeks, so we'll find out for sure. Thank you all so so much for the prayers and sweet messages. It means so much to us :)

Bryson, I can't believe you are 9 months old already! Mommy and Daddy love you SO much, sweet baby boy!!
Happy 9 months!!

**Update on the TVs: FedEx came to pick up the boxes and the guys was absolutely blown away that we would return them. Basically, the lady that bought them used to live across the street from us four years ago and forgot to change her address in the system when she purchased the TVs. FedEx had it in their system that everything was delivered to the correct address, and we weren't in the system at all. SO, if we weren't honest people, we pretty much could have kept them without anyone ever knowing. How CRAZY is that??

FedEx Fairy

The FedEx Fairy came by last week and delivered a huge surprise.

TWO 32'' flat screen TVs along with a couple of smaller boxes.

I could find many good places for them in our home.

Pretty Sweet!

The only problems is...

They aren't ours!!

My mom was watching Bryson at our house last week and the FedEx guy came with a delivery. She signed the paper without thinking anything of it, assuming that we had ordered something. She left the door open, he delivered the boxes and then left. Apparently he's not fantastic at matching numbers because he delivered them to the wrong address! I can only imagine how furious the buyers must be. Two TVs aren't exactly something that slips your mind. Michael tried to go to address on the boxes and no one was home.  Guess that means they're ours, right!? I kid, I kid. :)

We'll be calling FedEx first thing in the morning.
It's kind of  fun just looking at them until then :)

Maaaajor Update

Ok, friends. I owe you a huuge update. Sorry for the lack of blogging, but I have had no time or energy to ready any blogs in the last couple weeks, let alone write one. But, tonight is the night. I'm forcing myself to stay up past 9:00 (this is a big deal!) to get this done. Plus, I don't think I have any pictures for this post. Eeek!

I just wrote about Bryson's Baby Dedication and our Labor Day weekend if you want to see pictures. :)

Now, for the update on Bryson. As you know, he's been sick for quite a while. 3 weeks to be exact. When it first started, I chalked all the symptoms (grumpiness, low grade temp, diarrhea) up to just starting day care and to teething. Then he started throwing up. I got really worried about it and after a week of this, we went to the doctor.

He wasn't too concerned and said it would work it's way out. Well, it did't. A couple days later, Bryson stopped eating and drinking and was still having all of his other symptoms. I called the On Call doctor and she said to make sure he had a wet diaper every 6-8 hours or it could mean he was dehydrated. Since he was still throwing up and having diarrhea, she was pretty concerced about it. He woke up at 11:30 that night and still had not gone potty, which at this point was ELEVEN hours without a wet diaper. I freaked out and called my dad. He really urged me to take him to the ER. So I did. With tears streaming down and hands shaking uncontrollably, I took Bryson to the ER. By myself. Of all the luck, Michael was spending the night in Dallas that night because he had a big siminar the next morning. So it was just me. (Yes, he owes me for the rest of our lives for that one.) Anyway, we stayed there for several hours trying to get something into B. We tried milk, water, applejuice, Pedialyte, ice chips and even popcicles. He wouldn't take a thing. They were debating about giving him an IV, but fortunately, he had a wet diaper in the middle of the conversation, so we skipped the IV, thank goodness. I don't think I could have handled seeing him with an IV. I'm pretty sure I would have just collapsed right then and there. We both went back home, got 2.5 hours of sleep and went to work/daycare the next day. Exhausting!!

He started eating and drinking again the next day, but everything else has continued. He has even started waking up during the night because of gas. It's just so exhusting. Physically and Emotionally. I can't handle 4-5 hours of sleep every night and then teaching the next day. I can't handle seeing my baby so sick every day. I try so hard to be strong and calm, but on the inside I'm more stressed out than anyone could possible imagine and on the verge of bursting into tears at any given moment.

We went to a Pediatric GI doctor this morning and it was very comforting to talk to him. He seems to have a few different options to explore once cultures come back. While I'm praying for Bryson, I am also playing for this new doctor and for him to be able to find out what is making our sweet boy sick. We'll be going back to see him once the results from the stool samples are back.

During the last 3 weeks, Bryson has gone to the ER, seen the doctor 4 times, and had to stay home from daycare because of a temperature. Michael has been absolutely amazing and helped so much with Bryson. I'm also fairly completely certain we would not have been able to make it these 3 weeks without my mom. She has been our life saver. She's taken Bryson to doctor appointments when I couldn't leave my kids, she's picked him up from day care when he was throwing up, she has canceled all of her plans at the drop of a hat to watch Bryson when he couldn't go back to day care, she cooked us several meals and even stocked the pantry with dairy-free groceries. She has helped us out more than she could ever know and we are so blessed for her. I told her today that if she hadn't been here, I would have probably had to quit teaching by now because of all the appointments and times that Bryson had to stay home. Mom, we love you and can't even begin to tell you how grateful we are for you!!

Labor Day Weekend

We went to Houston this weekend for my cousin's wedding reception. We always have so so much fun seeing our family!

We spent all day Saturday with my Grandma, Aunt and Uncle hanging out at the house. I was really nervous how Bryson would do, but he was great! He's been pretty sick for a while, but he didn't have any "episodes"... Until...

We left the house to go to the reception right around Bryson's dinner time, so Steph fed him in his carseat on the way. We got to the reception, I changed him into his super cute suit and headed into the building. Literally, not 15 seconds after we walked through the door, Bryson threw up all over the place. We rushed back out to the car to clean him up, but, of course, we didn't have any extra clothes for him to wear. Michael searched for the nearest mall in the GPS and we rushed to Macy's, bought a cute little outfit and rushed  back just in time to see Robert and Emily be introduced as Husband and Wife. Whewie...I definitely needed a glass of wine after that craziness!!

Bryson was really great for most of the reception. He got fussy a few times, but poor baby was tired and sick. We stayed for a good part or the reception, got a few dances in and then headed back to put Bryson down for bedtime. My Mom had just learned the Cupid Shuffle (awesomeness!!!) so she was beyond excited they played the song! Ha!

Papa downloaded some baby apps on his phone, and Bryson loved played with them and hearing the songs :)

We went to the lake Sunday afternoon for the rest of the long weekend and it was so relaxing. I love going to the lake!! We had a wonderful, long weekend. I sure wish we had a 3 day weekend more often!
